Cutler to Bears!

Jay Cutler was traded to the Chicago Bears today, disappointed? I am. Kyle Orton, really that's the best the Broncos could do. Granted they got 2 first round picks but it's the 18th pick this year and I'm guessing it will be in the 20's next year now that the Bears have Cutler. Out of all the deals the Broncos could've worked this is one of the worst ones. Here are 4 that WOULD BE BETTER.

1. Trade him to the Browns for Brady Quinn and Shaun Rogers. Get a young quality starting qb and a great defensive tackle to plug that new 3-4 defense. This was the best option.

2. Trade him to the Panthers for Jake Delhomme and Julius Peppers. The Panthers to my knowledge never agressively pursued this but we should've looked into it.

3. Trade him to the Lions for their 2 first round draft picks and a third rounder. Draft Matt Sanchez or Matthew Stafford and insert Simms for one year to tutor either Sanchez or Stafford. Also they could've used their own 12th pick and the other Lions first rounder to improve the defense. This would've set the Broncos back for next year but would've laid a foundation for the future.

4. Trade him to Washington like everyone thought would happen all day. Get Jason Campbell and the 13th pick in the draft. At least Jason Campbell is a proven starting qb in the nfl, tell me again how good Kyle Orton is...hmmm.

If the Broncos don't win more then 6 games this year it's bye bye McDaniels and Xanders. Tell me again why the Broncos are letting 2 guys with no experience on the inner-circle of head coaches and general managers call the shots. That was Pat Bowlen's mistake. Get ready for a long season Denver, unless they pull something else out of their you know what, for Mcdaniels you'd have to get his head out of their first to make room.

Mike Shanahan to the Chiefs!!!!

Herm Edwards Fired by the Chiefs, Mike Shanahan next..

As you all have read, Herm Edwards was fired today by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards was a very mediocre 15-34 with the Chiefs in 3 years. He did have one year left on his contract, and many thought there was a shot he would be retained by Scott Pioli. Not the case. He was fired today, here's what Pioli had to say...

"Since my arrival last week, Herm and I have had several conversations as part of my overall evaluation of the football operation, After careful consideration, Clark and I felt that it was best to make a change. What I conveyed last week in the press conference I still believe to be true -- Herm is a great man and a tremendous football coach. He respects the game and the league, and he is passionate about his players and his craft." Pioli said in a statement reported on ESPN.com.

ESPN also reports from inside sources that Mike Shanahan is close to a deal with the Chiefs. This would come as a shock to anyone who knows the AFC West. Many thought with the respect Shanahan has for Broncos team owner Pat Bowlen that he would never even consider joining an AFC West foe, well it looks like he might defy all of the odds.

This will come as a nice surprise and scare for anyone living in Denver. Everyone in that city loved Shanahan and respected him very much. Now how will they feel having to face their former master mind on the opposing sidelines two times a year. Ouch. <!-- INLINE NFL.com Video (BEGIN) -->

Cowher to the Broncos?

Will Bill Cowher be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos??

Obviously there have been no indications of this and this is just speculation, but it would be a great fit. If Cowher were to take any coaching jobs in the NFL that are currently available the Broncos make the most sense. It's easily the best coaching job available on the market right now. Go ahead try and argue it, the Jets are overshadowed by the Giants, the Lions, well they're the Lions, the Raiders - two words, Al Davis. That's another no. The Browns, no thanks.

Cowher would be smart to take the Broncos job, there may not be this kind of job available next season.

Here's why he fits.

He left Pittsburgh with a franchise QB, solid offense and an always good defense. He would come to Denver and have Jay Cutler, one of the premier quarter backs in the league. He'd be able to bring in some of his people as Shanahan was the active GM after firing Ted Sundquist last season. While the defense may not be good, he can make it good in a short time. The Broncos looked daisy like on defense, they didn't bump receivers off the line, instead gave them 10 yard cushions giving the quick out away on every play. Not to mention the weak safety play and lack of QB pressure. But the Broncos do have the 12th pick, look for it to be defensive.

In one offseason Cowher can turn this team around. He's got the offense and Pat Bowlen isn't scared to spend money so he can revamp the defense through free agency and the draft.

Look for the Broncos and Cowher to make contact this week. Watch.
